We are a Christian based not-for profit social enterprise and a registered charity.
We seek to meet the needs of our local community and one way of doing this is by providing affordable second-hand furniture, appliances and other household items.
As a charity we provide furniture to those on low incomes at reduced prices and work with various agencies to help those who are struggling with day to day living.
As a social enterprise 100% of the funds raised are reinvested into the organisation to pay core running and operational cost, including the cost of employing staff. Any surplus is used to support our food Hub that provides food to many local charities as well as providing Emergency Food Packs working through referral agencies.
We provide volunteering opportunities for retired folk or those who have some free time as well as helping those who have been marginalised through ill health, long term unemployment or life experiences, helping them gain confidence, rebuild their self-esteem and find fulfilment in life.
We are open to the general public and our warehouse is open to all for viewing and buying. See overleaf for our opening times.
We provide a caring, professional and supportive service without prejudice or discrimination. We believe all people should be respected and treated equally regardless of race, culture, age, disability, religion, gender or lifestyle.
Yes, we deliver in Rayleigh and the surrounding areas. There is a one-off charge regardless of the number of items purchased.
We accept donation of clean furniture, appliances, and household items. These can be collected free of any charge.
Upholstered furniture must comply with fire safety regulations and be in good, clean condition to meet Trading Standards’ requirements.
We are always grateful to donors who are able to deliver items direct to the warehouse are this helps us to minimise our costs.
Please can you ring before bringing donations down to warehouse as we are restricted to how much we can accept due to limited floor space
Simply telephone during office hours on 01268 743232 or email the office on hopeworxinfo@svp.org.uk, sending photos, if possible, and we will do the rest, subject to warehouse space.
We are often grateful for donations of cutlery, crockery and clean linen, but best to call first to see current needs.
As a community service we are reliant on our volunteers, and without them we would struggle to provide the service we do. Volunteering opportunities arise for assisting on the van, in the warehouse, on the sales desk and even in administration. If you would like to get involved then please call the office for more information.
